The Ordu Museum is situated in the Selimiye District on the Boztepe road.
The mansion, which possesses a very delicate stone working, was made for Pasaoglu Huseyin Efendi in the year 1896. It constitutes an area of 65 m2 with its garden. Its stones have been brought from the town of Unye and its wood from Romania.
The mansion built by an architect from Istanbul and comprised of three floors, is an epitome of 19th century civil architecture. The Pasoglu mansion is one of the historical treasures of our city and an impeccable example of stone working with its capped and carved pillars, embroidered windows supported by motifs and consuls.
The physical appearance of the building is polished by the elaborate garden wall, stairs and ornamented stone handles of balconies and roofs. In the garden of the mansion, there is a pool with fountains and an original stone stove which is taken under the protection of a wood covering. The ceilings are made of wood. The wooden ceiling of the sitting room on the third floor has been ornamented by oil paintings. In the center of the ceiling, there are rectangular shaped plant motifs. Various visions have been painted into the medallions at the corners.
The Pasaoglu Mansion has been acquired by the Tourism and Culture Ministry in 1982. Its renovation was completed in 1987 and thus was open to public under the name "Pasaoglu Mansion and Ethnography Museum".
As of 2004, the museum possesses 2121 antique pieces, 86 of which are archeological and 1137 ethnographical. There are 873 coins, 8 stamps and 17 handwritten holy books.
